Comparison of textile seals for the cotton supply chain
Since our first sustainability report in 2016, we have been looking intensively at the procurement routes for our cotton. In doing so, we have closely compared various seals and their social and environmental standards.
Surprising results
We had to realize that, for example, the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) or the EU Ecolabel (EU-Blume) do not align with our sustainability goals. Although they fulfill some criteria, they do not achieve the holistic approach in every respect that we desire for our products.
Conclusion and Outlook
Sustainability is a complex topic, and textile seals offer a certain level of orientation – but not every seal delivers what it promises. That is why we rely on those labels that set strict requirements along the entire supply chain and take both ecological and social criteria into account.
